a land of beer and blood

Exhibited at The Truman Brewery, London from 4th June to 7th June 2010.

A Land Of Beer & Blood is an interactive audio/visual installation produced especially to be exhibited in the Truman Brewery. In response to the growing re-development of the Spitalfields area, this work focuses on the local and relatively unknown history surrounding the Truman Brewery, a site which was once a fully functioning brewery. With the use of a magnifying glass and an old map, you can explore the area by discovering informative commentaries which present you with a glimpse of what once was.

Featuring contributions from Iain Sinclair (author – Hackney, That Rose-Red Empire, London Orbital; filmmaker, psychogeographer), Rachel Lichtenstein (author – On Brick Lane, Rodinsky’s Room; artist, archivist) and John Nicholson (alternative historian).
